What Project V does: two protocols, 500 GB and a one-button subscription

What it is. WireGuard with obfuscation. Plain WireGuard has distinctive handwriting: identical headers, predictable sizes for the first packets of a handshake. Operator equipment recognises that in seconds and drops the connection. Obfuscation changes not the contents but the appearance — junk packets at the start of a session, unusual packet lengths, rewritten service headers. The cryptography is untouched: same Noise handshake, same ChaCha20-Poly1305.

Why it matters to you. If your VPN “connects and immediately drops”, it is usually the handwriting that got recognised. AmneziaWG removes that and takes almost nothing away from performance: it connects instantly and is easy on battery, because it stays as light as WireGuard.

What it looks like in practice. The bot sends you a configuration file and you open it in the AmneziaWG app — a dark tile with a multicoloured letter W. Inside, there is a toggle next to the tunnel name: flip it and it says Connected.

What it is. VLESS is a lightweight transport protocol with no signature of its own — it handles routing and identifying you, and leaves encryption to the transport layer. Reality is what makes it invisible: the server has no TLS certificate, and instead borrows the handshake — the first packets in which your device and the server agree on encryption — of a genuine, popular third-party website. From the outside this is ordinary HTTPS on port 443, the same port the entire legitimate internet lives on.

Why it matters to you. Filters can probe suspicious addresses themselves, connecting to see how they respond. An ordinary proxy gives itself away under that test; a Reality server answers exactly like a real web server, because it forwards the handshake to the genuine site. That is why the connection comes up where everything else hangs on an endless “Connecting…”.

What it looks like in practice. You press “add subscription” in the bot, Happ opens with a card listing the Poland and Netherlands servers, and then there is one big round button in the middle of the screen.

An ordinary VPN does not save you here, and not because it was uncovered: its servers’ addresses are not on the list, so the packets never arrive. VLESS + Reality solves a different problem instead — it makes the session look like a request to a permitted resource over HTTPS, which is a destination the filter is willing to pass.

The other half of the work is not technical. Filtering is configured differently by region and by operator, so we stay in contact with users across the country and adapt configurations to what is happening locally. Nobody has a solution that works always and everywhere, which is exactly why the trial is two weeks rather than one day.

What it is. 500 GB per month across the whole subscription and 3 devices at once. Both numbers are the same on LITE and PRO.

Why it matters to you. Traffic is easier to judge per gigabyte: on PRO it comes to ₽0.20 — a fraction of a cent — and whitelist bypass is inside that price rather than a separate line item. The allowance does not care which device uses it: one subscription covers a phone, a laptop and a tablet.

What it looks like in practice. An hour of ordinary-quality video is roughly a gigabyte; an hour of video calling is noticeably less; messengers and music barely register. On PRO you open the same subscription on a second device. On LITE each device needs its own configuration file — the bot issues extras on request, because one AmneziaWG file used on several devices at once stops working on all of them.

What it is. A subscription is a single link with every server and setting already inside it. People call it different things — a key, a config, a profile, a subscription URL — and they all mean the same object. The bot sends a button, your device knows Happ should open it, and the app pulls the server list down by itself.

Why it matters to you. Manual configuration means a dozen fields where one wrong character produces “cannot connect” with no explanation. The button removes that step entirely. The subscription is also live: when servers change, the app fetches the new list on its own, so you are not re-importing anything after every rotation.

What it looks like in practice. Press the button → “Open in Happ?” → a card with servers → the round power button → the VPN icon appears in your status bar. If the button does not fire, paste the link into Happ via “+” → Clipboard, or scan the QR code.
